WHO WE ARE...

The Athens Community Wellness Council is a non-profit coalition of concerned industries, health care providers, volunteer agencies and individuals. The Wellness Council promotes health and behavior change through resource and information sharing. There is no membership fee and any group or individual may join.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE...

The primary purposes of the Community Wellness Council are to inform our community about behaviors and environmental factors that affect health and to connect individuals and groups to resources and services.

WHAT WE DO...

The Wellness Council meets once a month. At the May meeting, officers are elected and goals/objectives for the upcoming year are set.

Our objectives include, but are not limited to, the following:

To host at least three luncheons during the upcoming year. Topics for these "speech/discussion" luncheons relate to our statement of purpose.

To conduct a Health Fair for Clarke County third grade children. The Health Fair is held during the school day and is a structured event allowing all children to visit each health-related booth.

To take part in the annual Athens Area Maternity and Baby Fair held in August.

To assist other organizations/groups with health fairs and healthy activities as requested and time and resources allow.
